Today is the 160th anniversary of the beginning of underground public transport in London, with trains first running between Paddington and Farringdon:

Public transport is great. If you don't want - or can't - cycle, then buses and trains are the next best way to get around. Trains and buses don't clog city streets, they're cheap, increasingly clean and enable their users to still get plenty of exercise whilst walking to and from their stops.

We don't really need to be smart to solve our transport problems - although there's no harm in developing new options, like Swyft gondolas - we really just need to use the solutions we already have:
