Nightmare

I know I'm a latecomer to the climate crisis. I know I'm an accidental environmentalist (because it took losing my driving licence to get me onto a bike). I know we still have a car in our household and have to use it at times. But the more I read about what is happening in the world, the more terrified I become for the future of humanity.

Firstly, after record-breaking 2022, 2023 shows no signs of abating the climb in global temperatures. Right now, this is happening in China:

Yet no one seems to be talking about it.

Instead, on Brexit Island - where we're already well down the road of poisoning our waterways with sewage and rolling back already limited environmental legislation - the government are actively doing things to undermine the fight to reduce carbon emissions.

Legislation is essential, because we all know that companies will never prioritise being green or protecting the environment if those things get in the way of making a profit - as this recent story shows:

How do we get the mainstream to wake up to what is actually happening, instead of poking fun at Greta Thunberg's old tweets?

Sadly, there is no waking up from the coming nightmare.
